As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the many blessings we share as members of this great union. Thanksgiving is a time to gather with loved ones, share a meal, and express gratitude for the abundance in our lives. It’s also a moment to pause and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices that each of you brings to our shared mission every day.
This year, I am especially thankful for the unity and strength that define the International Longshoremen’s Association. Your unwavering commitment to our collective success continues to inspire me and serve as a reminder of what we can accomplish together. The solidarity you have shown during our ongoing contract negotiations has been nothing short of remarkable. It is through this steadfast support and determination that we will secure a new master contract that benefits not just our members, but also future generations of ILA families.
Thanksgiving is also about recognizing the people and values that make our lives meaningful. For us, it’s about the camaraderie we share as union brothers and sisters and the pride we feel in the work we do every day to keep our ports thriving and our communities strong. It’s about honoring the values of fairness, dignity, and opportunity that have been at the heart of the ILA for generations.
As you sit down with your families this Thanksgiving, I hope you will take pride in the work you do and the difference you make. Whether you’re working on the docks, operating machinery, or supporting operations behind the scenes, you play an essential role in building a brighter future for us all.
From my family to yours, I wish you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, joy, and gratitude. May this holiday remind us all of the importance of togetherness and inspire us to continue standing strong for one another, as we always have.
Thank you for all you do. May you and your loved ones enjoy a safe, healthy, and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday.
In solidarity,
Alan A. Robb
