ILA Successful In White House Request for U.S. Boycott of Russian Shipments; President Joe Biden Issues Sweeping Executive Order Banning Russian Imports and Exports
NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (March 11, 2022) The ILA tonight applauded the Biden Administration for the Executive Order the President signed today boycotting Russian exports and imports that are handled at ILA ports. While President Biden’s Executive Order announced prohibiting Certain Imports, Exports, and New Investments with respect to continued Russian Federation Aggression, the order outright bans the shipment of “fish, seafood, and preparations thereof; alcoholic beverages; non-industrial diamonds; and any other products of Russian Federation origin as may be determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Commerce.
With Russian oil and petroleum products already banned, coupled with today’s Executive Order, ILA President Harold J. Daggett and the union are successful in the desire for a powerful Russian Boycott at all ILA ports in America.
“I applaud our President Joe Biden for his courageous action in announcing this Russian Boycott, and the ILA rejoices in not handling Russian cargo spelled out in the President’s Executive Order,” said ILA President Harold Daggett.
