ILA – South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District President Alan A. Robb’s 2023 Memorial Day Message
Dear Friends:
Memorial Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect, honor, and remember what it is we cherish about the United States of America. These are crazy times as there are American politicians degrading our democracy, praising authoritarians like Vladimir Putin and encouraging far-right white supremacists. State legislators are limiting the right to vote, banning books, and forbidding the teaching of American history as it was, not “window dressed”. Memorial Day is a time for us to honor those who served our Country in time of need by rejecting the hateful venom and anti-democratic forces. We are reminded that our democracy cannot be taken for granted. It is fragile and must be protected. Once again, we will be put to the test as 2024 looms as the most important effort yet to assure democracy survives, that we, the working men and women of this country have a respected place at the table!
As President of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District, I salute you, brothers and sisters of the ILA, as we join together this Memorial Day 2023 honoring the past, but continuing to strive for a more hopeful, peaceful and safe time ahead.
May God Bless America and the ILA and all of those in need.
Fraternally,
Alan A. Robb

I wish this convencion was held on another state and not in Florida as a protest against the stricts laws that Governor DeSantis has imposed on hard-working immigrants.
