ILA President Harold Daggett Praises President Donald Trump On Nomination of Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer to Lead U.S. Labor Department

NORTH BERGEN, NJ (November 25, 2024) Harold J. Daggett, president of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), praised incoming President Donald J. Trump’s nomination of Oregon Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer for U.S. Secretary of Labor.

In a letter sent to President-elect Trump over the weekend, ILA President Daggett wrote: “On behalf of the 85,000-member ILA, I want to commend you on your nomination of Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer to lead the United States Department of Labor. “As a member of Congress, Rep. Chavez-DeRemer built a strong pro-worker record protecting their rights to organize.”

President Trump’s Cabinet nomination of Ms. Chavez-DeRemer drew high praise from Organized Labor Leaders, including Sean O’Brien, the Teamsters President.

“We look forward to working with Ms. Chavez-DeRemer and your Administration on legislation and policies that protect worker’s rights, safety, and honors their commitment to building a strong economy for our great nation,” President Daggett told Mr. Trump.

The ILA leader added in his letter to Mr. Trump that the union would urge the United States Senate to confirm Ms. Chavez-DeRemer as Secretary of Labor.
