Charles Spencer, Executive Vice President Emeritus of the ILA South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District, has been appointed to JAXPORT’s Board of Directors.
From JAXPORT’S Press Release:
“Congratulations to longtime labor union leader Charles Spencer on being appointed to JAXPORT’s Board of Directors.
Spencer has served in leadership roles for decades with the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local 1408, the labor union representing many of the men and women who move cargo through JAXPORT’s terminals. He currently serves as International Vice President and Executive Vice President Emeritus for the ILA’s regional South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District.
A native of Jacksonville’s Eastside, he began working on JAXPORT’s docks in 1963 and has made significant contributions to the port’s growth ever since.
He is the recipient of the NAACP’s Benjamin L. Hooks “Keeper of the Flame” Award for his contributions to racial equality and fairness in the workplace. In 2024, City of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan issued a proclamation proclaiming Labor Day 2024 as Charles F. Spencer Day in Jacksonville.”
We would like to give a huge congratulations to our brother Charles Spencer on his achievement!
