A Message of Unity and Progress

Dear Members of the International Longshoremen’s Association,

It has come to my attention that there may be some confusion surrounding the recent agreement reached in our master contract negotiations. I understand that for many of you, this process may feel unfamiliar, and I want to provide some clarity.

As has always been the case, the wage increases we have negotiated will not take effect until we have completed the full negotiation process and ratified a new contract. This contract will also include several ancillary benefits that have not yet been finalized. These include potential increases in container royalty payments, vacation and holiday payouts, enhancements to the MILA plan, and more.

I have complete confidence in the leadership of the ILA and the wage scale delegates as they work to secure what will undoubtedly be one of the most significant labor agreements in U.S. history. President Daggett and his team are tirelessly working to ensure that the rest of the contract matches the excellence of the wage package. The current wage scale agreement is more than four times better than any we’ve had in the past, and I see no reason to expect the ancillary benefits to be any different.

Please note that all wage increases will be retroactively applied to October 1, 2024, once the new contract is ratified.

The solidarity, camaraderie, and support shown during the recent strike was unprecedented. I ask that you continue with that same unity and support as we finalize this agreement. There are always those who would seek to divide and weaken this organization, but together, we will stand strong.

Thank you for your patience and continued dedication. God bless you and may God continue to bless this great union!
