Standing United: ILA Local 1351 Gears Up for Possible October 1 Strike for Fair Wages

HOUSTON, TX (September 11, 2024) Officials and members of I.L.A. Local 1351 gathered in spectacular fashion for their monthly union meeting, with over 150+ attendees showing up to support the potential strike on October 1st if the ILA’s well-deserved demands are not met by USMX.

President Bill Williams Jr. delivered an inspirational speech regarding industry wages, current economic challenges, inflation and the Covid 19 pandemic. “USMX and the Carriers seem to forget what our workers had to go through during the Covid Pandemic. The ILA never stopped working to feed the supply chain. We lost members and they profited ‘billions’ of dollars off the backs of our Union Brothers & Sisters.”

International Vice President Eloy Cortez and District Secretary-Treasurer Bill Williams Sr. spoke about the International’s views on the contract negotiations and the upcoming strike mobilization plan.

President Williams and the membership of I.L.A. Local 1351 stand united with our International President Harold Daggett and International Executive Vice President Dennis Daggett in full support of a strike on October 1st.

“When the clock strikes 12:01 am in Houston, TX, our members will hit the streets and demand fair wages for our families if necessary. We are as strong as ever and I am confident we will prevail” said President Williams.
