2019 J. H. “Buddy” Raspberry Scholarship Reception & Awards Luncheon

On Saturday, June 8th, the 2019 J. H. “Buddy” Raspberry Scholarship Reception & Awards Luncheon was held at the Marriott Marquis – Houston. This reception marked the 10th year of the event with a total of $120,000 in academic and vocational scholarship funds awarded to 31 recipients.

The luncheon began with an invocation by Larry Sopchak and speech by Alan Robb, South Atlantic Gulf Coast District – ILA President. President Robb described the importance of scholarships to the scholars and their families and shared his goal to eventually be able to award a scholarship to every applicant. Master of Ceremonies Charles Montgomery began by speaking about the late Mr. Raspberry. “Buddy was a student for all his life in the sense he never stopped learning.
